Wilmette Police Ratify Teamster Contract
Local 714 Members Secure Three-Year Deal, Shift Control
Approximately 40 officers with the Wilmette Police Department enjoy new control over work shifts and wage increases after approving a three-year contract with Teamsters Local 714.
“Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and they deserve the best defense possible—the armor of a union contract,” said John T. Coli, President of Teamsters Joint Council 25. “The Teamsters are proud to continue to represent the Wilmette Police and ensure their sacrifices are not taken for granted.”
The new provisions of the officers’ contract, which takes effect on January 1, 2010, include additional holidays and a new work order giving officers greater freedom to choose and bargain for the shifts they work throughout the year. Officers will also receive regular salary stipends to maintain comparable wages with the Wilmette Fire Department.
Teamsters Local 714 is an affiliate of Teamsters Joint Council 25, which represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois.
