Applications for Teamster License Plates Now Accepted
Teamsters Can Apply for Specialty Plate,
1,500 Applications Needed
Teamsters statewide are one step closer to taking their union pride on the road.
Applications for Illinois’ first Teamster specialty license plate are now being accepted. Teamster members, families and supporters are strongly encouraged to submit applications as a minimum of 1,500 paid applications must be received before plate production can begin.
“The Teamster license plate not only reminds everyone on the road of the strength of our union, but it offers Illinois drivers a special designation to call their own,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “Purchasers of the plates may also be proud that all proceeds raised will be going back into our communities through various charitable organizations.”
By officially signing House Bill 2625 in August, Gov. Pat Quinn established the first Teamster license plate in Illinois history. Having received overwhelming support in both houses of the state’s legislature, the license plates will bring new revenue to the Teamsters Joint Council 25 Charitable Trust and offer members a new way to support their union.
Interested union members and supporters can secure their Teamster plate with an initial application fee of $25. An additional $15 will be required upon final purchase.
Simply fill out the attached application. Completed applications can be mailed with a check for $25 to the Secretary of State, Vehicle Services Department, Special Plates Division, 501 S. Second St., Room 312, Springfield, IL 62756.
Please note: On the application form, the Name of the Specialty Plate Being Requested is “Teamsters.”
