Teamsters Host Illinois Labor Luncheon

Joint Council 25 Holds Fundraiser Honoring Senate
President Cullerton

Teamsters Joint Council 25 generated support for democratic campaigns throughout Illinois on Tuesday with a labor luncheon honoring Senate President John Cullerton.

Cullerton, a longtime labor supporter, has overseen the Illinois Senate Democratic Victory Fund since being elected President of the state Senate in January. This week’s fundraiser in Chicago gave the Teamsters an opportunity to support the fund, which aids Senate Democratic legislative campaigns statewide.

“Senator Cullerton was a key figure in helping the Illinois legislature pass our state’s first comprehensive capital bill in more than a decade,” said John T. Coli, President of Joint Council 25. “The Teamsters are fortunate to have the chance to honor a true labor supporter and assist the Senate in strengthening Illinois’ political future.”

Other unions, labor activists and state leaders joined Joint Council 25 for the labor luncheon, including Gov. Pat Quinn and SEIU Local 73 President Christine Boardman.

Teamsters Joint Council 25 represents more than 100,000 hardworking men and women throughout Illinois.
